Cookie policy
The small files we ask your browser to remember.
Switch uses the minimum number of cookies needed to keep you signed in and to remember your consultation while you fill it in. We do not use marketing or tracking cookies.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you come back to the site, your browser sends the cookie back, so the site can recognise you, remember your preferences or keep your session going. Some “cookies” technically use your browser’s storage in a different way (such as localStorage); for plain-English purposes we treat them the same in this policy.
This policy is set under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive as enforced in the UK, together with UK GDPR.
What we use
Switch is currently a pre-launch site. We use the minimum number of cookies needed to make the site work. We do not currently use:
- Marketing or advertising cookies.
- Cross-site tracking cookies.
- Social-media pixel cookies.
- Re-targeting cookies.
- Analytics cookies that profile you as an individual.
If that changes — for example if we introduce an analytics tool to understand how the site is used — we will update this policy and ask for your consent before any non-essential cookie is set.
Cookies we set
- switch_session
- Strictly necessary. Keeps you signed in to your account while you move between pages.
- switch_consult_id
- Strictly necessary. Carries your consultation through the multi-step flow so you do not lose your answers if you reload.
- switch_cart
- Strictly necessary. Remembers the treatment, dose and quantity you have selected on the way to checkout.
- switch_csrf
- Strictly necessary. Anti-CSRF token to keep your account safe.
- switch_cookie_choice
- Strictly necessary. Records the choice you made on the cookie banner so we do not ask you again on every page.
All of the above are first-party (set by switchpharmacy.co.uk), session or short-lived, and used solely to provide the service you have asked for. They are exempt from the consent requirement under PECR regulation 6(4) as “strictly necessary”.
Third-party cookies
We embed a small number of third-party services where they are essential to the function of the site. Each may set its own cookies. We list the categories here; specific provider names will be added when each integration is enabled.
- Payment provider
- To take payment securely at checkout. Strictly necessary at the point of payment.
- Identity verification
- To match your photo ID to a selfie during ordering. Strictly necessary at the point of verification.
- Hosting / security (e.g. WAF)
- To detect bots and abuse. Strictly necessary.
- Google Fonts
- To load the “Outfit” typeface used across the site. We use Google’s standard delivery; no font request includes any account or order data.
We do not embed any social-media buttons that load tracking pixels.
Your choices
You can clear cookies in your browser at any time, or block them entirely. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will stop the site working — for example, you will not stay signed in, and consultations will not save between steps.
To clear or block cookies, follow your browser’s instructions:

You can also set your browser to send a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal. Switch honours those signals where they reach us.
Changes
We may change this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the current version. If we introduce non-essential cookies (for example analytics), we will ask for your consent first via an on-page banner.
